The ASEAN Youth Volunteer Programme (AYVP) is a youth community leadership programme that mobilises young volunteers to work with communities in developing innovative solutions to the social, cultural, economic and environmental challenges of the region, while forging a sense of ASEAN identity. For 2016, the AYVP will be looking into the thematic area of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) to be implemented in Philippines through a joint partnership between Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia – The National University of Malaysia (UKM), and University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University.
The AYVP Philippines 2016 is also supported by USAID, ASEAN Secretariat, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Malaysia, and the National Youth Commission (NYC), Philippines. At the end of 1 month, the programme primarily seeks to develop ASEAN youth DRR-leaders who will implement their own DRR projects in their respective communities.
The four weeks programme will be held at the University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City, Manila for weeks 1 and 4 while week 2 and 3 will be at the Barangay Payatas and Barangay Banaba, Quezon City community sites.
